Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.
With all the conflicts and natural disasters that having been happening around the world, you may not feel that the world is a place of beauty anymore. But are we looking close enough?
You are the Eternal, the only One.
Nehemiah 9:6 (The Voice)
The skies are Your work alone—
You made the heavens above those skies
and the stars that fill them.
You made the earth and everything upon it,
the seas and all that lives within their depths.
Your creation lives and is sustained by You,
and those who dwell in the heavens
Fall down before You and worship.
There is beauty all around us, in the green spaces, the seas, the animals and in there is even beauty in the sky, just look up on a clear night when the sky is full of stars. Take time to look around you as we must never take the earth God made for us, for granted.
There is a song I’m sure many will know well called ‘For the beauty of the earth’. Here’s a lovely arrangement written by Dorothy Gates, played by Daniel Wajda (flugelhorn horn) with the New York Staff Band.
For the beauty of the earth,
For the beauty of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies,
Over and around us lies,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our joyful hymn of praise.
For the beauty of each hour
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale, and tree and flower,
Sun and moon and stars of light,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our grateful hymn of praise.
For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth, and friends above,
For each gentle thought and mild,
For each gentle thought and mild,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our joyful hymn of praise.
For each perfect gift of thine,
To our race so freely given,
Graces human and divine,
Flowers of earth and buds of heaven,
Flowers of earth and buds of heaven,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our joyful hymn of praise.
