Come and receive

Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.

I want to ask you a few questions today and how you pray.

How do you approach God in prayer?

  • Do you find a quiet place or do you have a sanctuary you always go to?
  • Do you kneel before God to pray?
  • Do you say your prayers out loud?

What do you pray about?

  • Do you tell God all that’s on your mind?
  • Do you tell Him all your worries?
  • Do you pray for other, and other situations?
  • Do you ask for what you think you need?

One final question for you, do you make sure you take time to hear God speaking you?

Regardless of how you answered my questions, God still just wants us to come to him just as we are; with all our faults; with all our sins; with all our sorrows, with all our temptations; with all our desires; with our all.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)

There’s a simple song with very powerful words, called ‘Come Just As You Are’, which reminds us, who else but Jesus could you give us so much, when we come into His presence, just as we are.

Come just as you are
Hear the spirit call
Come just as you are
Come and see come receive
Come and live forever

Life everlasting
Strength for today
Taste the living water
And never thirst again
