Expectations

Have you ever looked forward to something for so long, and with such high expectations, that when it eventually happens, it turns out to be a huge disappointment or letdown?

We that definitely can’t be said for our Easter weekend at Bellshill Salvation Army – We had special visitors for the weekend, Amsterdam Staff Band (ASB). We had been looking forward to their visit for several years, as they were originally due to be with us for Easter 2021, for our band centenary celebrations, however the Covid pandemic meant that had to be cancelled. We were of course delighted that we were able to book ASB for Easter 2024 when we were having our delayed centenary celebrations.

We had a wonderful weekend with ASB – right for the moment our band locals, and some others folks in the band, met ASB when they arrived at Glasgow airport, to when we waved goodbye to them as they walked through the Priority Security gate for their flight back to the Netherlands, their fellowship, musicianship, christianity and ministry was evident to each of us.

Our expectations of one another can often be way to high, as we each let ourselves and other down on a regular basis. That however can’t be said of God, as our expectations of Him may be set high, but he will always provide for us in whatever way He feels is best for us.
