In the last few weeks, as the weather has got a little bit drier and warmer, I’ve managed to get out and about a bit more. I’ve been going for a walk most days, not what you’d call a long walk, but 20-30 minutes each time. It may not sound like much to you, but for me it is an achievement. It’s been good get some fresh air.
I have noticed that some days I see very few other people out for walk, while on other occasions I see a lot of folk out of a walk or a jog/run. The interesting thing for me has been the number of people, who I don’t know, who have smiled or said hello to me, as we’ve passed one another on our walk. This has surprised me somewhat as normally most people seem to go about their day with their head down, not really noticing or acknowledging anyone or anything in their journey.
I wonder, is it the improved weather that has made everyone more amenable and more likely/willing to interact with others they don’t know. Whatever the reason, it has been good to just say smile, say hello or comment on the weather, with complete strangers as our paths have crossed on our walk.
I’m hoping to be able to continue going for a walk most days, so I can enjoy the fresh air, and get some exercise.
