Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.
(to His disciples) If you want to follow Me, you must deny yourself the things you think you want. You must pick up your cross and follow Me.
Matthew 16:24 (The Voice)
Jesus made it clear to His disciples that being His followers meant they had to totally surrender to Him. They must put aside their own wants and desires, and carry their own cross to follow Him. The also applies to us – In other words, for us to be His followers, we must give up our old ways and commiting our lives to Him.
True discipleship is more than just believing in Christ, it’s belief in action!
Full surrender is not just put our old habits/lives on hold, but embracing the challenges of following Jesus, by changing our lives so that we grow closer to God each day.
All to Jesus I surrender,
All to him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust him,
In his presence daily live
I surrender all, I surrender all.
All to thee, my blessed Saviour,
I surrender all
