Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.
Each time we listen to, or read the news, there seems to be yet another situation or event occurred somewhere in the world that remind us that this world is not in a good state. There is a darkness spreading across the world. There are many people living in fear because of the intolerances and hatred shown to them by others. War is raging in various parts of the world, while people are struggling to survive without the basic essentials they need to live.
We are living in a world that seems to be getting darker, and more in need of God as each day goes by.
This is the verdict, that light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that it may be revealed that his deeds have been done in God.
John 3:19-21 (Modern English Version)
There is good news despite the darkness, because God is still with us. God is still here when all seems lost, and gives us hope. Hope that if we share God’s love, His light will break through the darkness in every person’s heart. We pray that we may help bring God’s light back into this world today.
You may have expected us to shared a devotional piece of music today, however we’ve chosen to share the more uplifting ‘Great is the darkness’ as a reminder to each of us that when we invite God into our lives and into our world, His light will shine bright in this world again.
May now Your church rise with power and love,
This glorious gospel proclaim;
In every nation salvation will come
To those who believe in Your name.
Help us bring light to this world,
That we might speed Your return.
