I’ve been reminded several times this week that in less than 5 weeks it will be Christmas! How on earth did that happen? It seems just a couple of days ago it was August and we were still wondering if we were going to get a late dose of hot sunny Summer weather.
Now we’re in the second last week of November and Christmas trees and decorations are starting to appear on/in houses and other buildings and shops. We’ve not even reached the first Sunday of advent yet so for me, it’s nearly time for the Christmas decorations, rather than it’s already time!
Yes, the Christmas adverts have been on TV for weeks already, but really, does that mean we should be putting our Christmas decorations up already? Christmas should be a special time and if we extend and extend the timeline that we have our Christmas decorations up, does that dilute how special Christmas should be?
I understand that some people really love Christmas and so love putting up their decorations as soon as they possibly can, but it’s not for me. For me it’s nearly time to start celebrating Christmas – I prefer to wait until we get to advent before I consider it to be Christmastime. How about you – Do you consider it nearly time for Christmas decorations or already time for Christmas decorations to be up?

Brilliant post Dorothy. I love the remark about Christmas adverts on TV. Like you Christmas for me doesn’t start until 1st December😊
