The Real Christmas

Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.

The advent season has just started but the Christmas TV adverts have been on our screens for what seems like months already. The TV adverts are designed to convince us to purchase a particular item or service for a friend or loved one for Christmas. It’s easy to understand why most people these days think Christmas just about presents and overeating.

As a Salvation Army band, Christmas is always one of the busiest times of year for us, It may be a busy time, but it does give us a great unique opportunity to share the real reason we celebrate Christmas, as we share our music and our ministry at the various Christmas concerts, and when we play carols in our local community.

The world may feel like a dark place to many these days, so as Christians it’s our responsibility to tell those we engage with tis Christmas, that they can find hope in this world, if they come into a relationship with Jesus. Jesus the light of the world was born on that first Christmas morning, bringing hope for us all.

You're still the hope of Christmas
You're still the light when the world looks dark
You're still the hope of Christmas
And You're still the hope of my heart
