Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.
When asked what is Christmas really about? What is your answer?
The simple answer is it’s all about Jesus’ birth. However sadly for so many people these days, they have no idea that Christmas has anything to do with anyone other than Santa. That’s hardly surprising though is it, given that when we look around the shops and supermarkets, or adverts on TV, they show Christmas as being all about the glitter, decorations, gifts, food, family and friends, and of course Santa.
As Christians we seem to have more and more of a challenge each year to try to ensure others know the real reason we celebrate Christmas. The enjoyment in Christmas without Jesus is only temporary during the festive season, however the enjoyment and hope of Christmas with Jesus is forever.
As you listen to one of my favourite Christmas songs, ‘It’s Simply Jesus’, let’s keep Jesus at very the heart of every Christmas.
