You’re a star!

Someone recently said to me ‘You’re a star!’ when all I did was pick something up that they had dropped. I have to be honest and say that’s quite a low bar to qualify as ‘being a star’.

We often hear adults telling kids they are stars, to tell them they have done a great job, and to offer encouragement . We also talk about famous people, particularly performers, actors or musicians being described as stars.

However at this time of year the star that I like to focus on is the star of Bethlehem – the one that led the wise men to Bethlehem to welcome baby Jesus into this world, on that first Christmas morning.

As a child I was always intrigued by that star – when we look up to the sky on a clear night, there are hundreds of stars, so I was always amazed that anyone could clearly identify one star and attempt to follow it to a specific location. I’m sure those who are more knowledgeable than me about the star, would be able to explain how it is possible to find your way, using only the stars as your satnav.

If you are unaware of who the wisemen were travelling to see on that first Christmas morning, or you haven’t accept Jesus as your saviour, I encourage you to follow the star of Bethlehem, to find the one that Christmas is all about, Jesus.
