Searching for Jesus

Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.

Congratulations, you have survived the chaos and busyness of the run up to Christmas, and made it to Christmas Day!

It can be a challenge to keep ourselves from being distracted by the presents, the glitter and sparkle of the decorations, the food, the fun and the busyness of Christmas, all instead of celebrating Jesus’ birth.

Sadly these days, it shouldn’t surprise us that there are many people who have no idea what Christmas is really about. It’s not helped that when we look at social media, TV shows or Christmas movies, Jesus is rarely mentioned at all.

The world has never been more in need of Jesus than it is these days. I wonder how many of those whose paths we have crossed in the lead up to Christmas, are searching for something, someone to believe in, because they need hope for the future – Peace, love and hope that we know can only be found in the love of Jesus.

In the bible we read about those who were searching for the baby Jesus on that first Christmas morning – the shepherds and the wise men travelled for many miles searching to find their way to Jesus. And when they found Him, they bowed before Him and worshiped Him.

This Christmas I challenge each one of us to re-find our love and joy of Jesus, and to reach out to others to lead them to Jesus, the reason for the season. They can find the hope and peace they’ve been searching for, as they come to know Jesus.

'Tis the Lord, O wondrous story!
'Tis the Lord, the King of glory;
at his feet, we humbly fall,
crown him, crown him Lord of all!
