Being imperfect

The nice thing about being imperfect is the joy it brings to others.

Doug Larson

Think about it…

Have you noticed how many people always seem to take great delight in highlighting your faults and flaws, and how happy it seems to make them. I guess we should be pleased how happy we help others feel when they do that.

But to be serious, let’s not highlight others faults when we actually have so many of our own that we should work to improve. It’s not nice to get joy out of other peoples’ failures, so don’t!

Personally I am a perfectionist, and therefore I’m more than aware of my faults and failing. I therefore don’t need others to point them out to me, it just makes me feel even more imperfect and even more of a failure than I already think I am.

I recently read this, and I think it’s a great positive to finish on

The joy of imperfection is the idea that imperfection is good and can lead to creativity, flexibility, and self-acceptance. It can also help people to stop apologizing for their flaws and to be more true to themselves.
