Rotten words!

Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues.

Proverbs 17:28

Regardless of how knowledgeable we are, we can all be guilty at times of saying things that can cause hurt or damage relationships – and that hurt or damage can often never be undone. No wonder we must be careful what we say.

Don’t let even one rotten word seep out of your mouths. Instead, offer only fresh words that build others up when they need it most. That way your good words will communicate grace to those who hear them.

Ephesians 4:29 (The Voice)

We have a responsibility for to ensure what people hear us say is what we intend them to hear – It’s often not just about what we say, but how we say our words that can sometimes cause the problem. If we’re not able to ensure we can do that, then maybe we should consider saying less and listening more. I certainly need to be reminded of that from time to time!
