I’m sure we’ve all found ourselves admiring the rich and famous, and all the great luxurious possessions and friends they seem to have. But do we see the real picture of their lives, and the experiences and feelings they through on a daily basis? Are they really any different to anyone else?
We’re told several times in the bible that we should not be envious of what others have, as it can cause us great torment and unrest. Envy in turn may tempt us to do something we shouldn’t just so we can get what we desire.
Do not let your heart envy sinners, but always be zealous for the fear of the Lord.
Proverbs 23:17
However, as the above verse from Proverbs tells us, it better that we do things God’s way, because when we live God’s way, our future will be secure. That may mean our future isn’t as luxurious or exciting as others lives are, but if we’re in tune with God, we will have as many riches in life as we could possibly want.
