Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared the devotions I shared at band practice last Wednesday. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.
“Tomorrow is a new day” – I wonder how many times you said those words, or someone has said those words to you, maybe after you’ve had a difficult, or stressful day?
Each new day starts with the dawn, when the sun rises to bring light to the world. Just as the sun rises to herald the start of a new day, so it’s a time for us to reset before we launch into a new day.
We’ve just celebrated Easter and the resurrection of Jesus which allows us the chance of a new beginning, because of His triumph of life over death. It can be equated to the dawning of a new day, and the promise of a fresh start. It give us hope following the darkness of Jesus’ crucifixion, because it gives us hope for our future and the promise of eternal life.
I recently came across the beautiful song ‘The Dawn’ by Daniel Schreiner, which fits perfectly with today’s devotions. As you listen to the Canadian Staff Songsters singing this song, we challenge you today to think about your own life and your relationship with God – do you need reset your relationship with Him today, to start afresh in your Christian journey? Jesus offered us a new dawn when he sacrificed himself to save us, is it time today for a new dawn in your life?
The night is always darkest before the dawn
The dawn, bringing hope, bringing light,
bringing joy to open our hearts and strengthen our souls.
After the night the sun will shine.
The night will end and the sun will rise!
The night is always darkest before the dawn.
