Legacy!

We went to see Michael Ball and Alfie Boe a couple of weeks ago – we’d seen them before at a Christmas concert and had enjoyed that so decided it was worth going to hear them again. It was a great show with a variety of song and styles.

There was one song that particularly caught my attention that night – at the time, I wasn’t quite sure why, but as Easter approached I began to realise why I couldn’t get the song out of my head. here’s the song in question.

‘He Lives in You’ is a song from ‘The Lion King’ sequel, ‘Simba’s Pride’ – It tells us that Mufasa’s legacy lives on in Simba, and that the memory and spirit of the past are always with us. The song is used to uplift Simba and encourage him to remember his father’s teachings and embrace his destiny.

Even that description of what the song was enough to get me considering what Easter means to me – The song may have been about Mufasa’s legacy, but it very much got me thinking about Easter, and the legacy Jesus’ death and resurrection has left for me. It reminded me also that all I’ve learned about God, my faith, my experiences, and how God has moulded me into the person I am today. I have to trust him to follow my destiny.
