Busy week

Yes, this has been a very busy week even although I’ve been on annual leave all week. I’m physically exhausted now after spending much of this week working in my front and back garden, to try and get them ‘under control’.

Let me explain, we’ve had someone come and cut the grass, week and turn over the earth ever since we move to our current location. However at the end of the gardening season last year, he informed us that he was fully retiring, so would no longer be able to do our garden any more. We talked about finding someone else to do the gardening, but finally decided that if we bought ourselves a small lawn mower, we should be able to do the garden ourselves.

Well that seemed like a great idea, except for the fact we didn’t quite consider how much work was needed! I realised a few weeks ago that other than a couple of odd days, I’ve not have any time off work since new year, so I booked this week off. As we didn’t really have anything specific to do this week, and the weather was still good, I decided this should be a gardening week.

I’ve not fully finished all I wanted to do, but both front and back gardens are tidy; I’ve cleared several areas at the front of flowers/plants I didn’t want; and just today I planted some new perennial flowers that I purchased earlier this week. I now happy with the front garden.

The back is reasonably good too, though still a lot of weeds on the path, but I did spray them with weedkiller yesterday, so I’m hopefully that’ll kill the weeks off, and I then just need to tidy that up.

Clearing various of the garden has been hard work, and so I’m now exhausted and I ache. However it’s good to look out now at the garden and be reasonably pleased with what I see – There’s still one bush at the front I need to trim and tidy, but I ran out of time to sort that, so that’ll be my next job, after we have a few days of much needed rain.

I’ll almost be glad to go back to work next week for a rest…well maybe not quite ‘glad’! LOL
