Never ceasing

Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.

In the quietness when you spend quality time in God’s presence, does prayer always come easy to you, or do you have times when you can’t utter any words? It’s not that you don’t want to pray, in fact it can feel like the complete opposite because you have so many things on your mind that you want to take to Jesus, it’s just you become unable to vocalise your prayer.

The more times you find yourself unable to utter a prayer, the harder it can become trying to pray. That’s why I always find it reassuring to know that even when I can’t find any words to pray, God still knows what’s in heart and on my mind.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
    his mercies never come to an end;
 they are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV)

It can be easy to get lost in the busyness of life; to focus on our struggles instead of on God, so we lose sight of God. In days that this, we must try to keep our focus on God, to keep believing that he is always by our side because his love for us will never cease.

It's then I feel your presence
And find you always near.
Your spirit helps remind me
That there's no need to fear.

It is you who brings me comfort
It is you who brings me peace
It is you who turns my tears to joy
So my praise will never cease.
