Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.
Tonight is our final band practice of this session, before our practices stop for our summer break. Probably unsurprisingly, this got me thinking about holidays, and more specifically, what having a break or a holiday means for us.
Life can be difficult at times, it can be stressful, and exhausting, so when we get the opportunity to have time away from our everyday life, we look forward to that don’t we? That ‘time away’ may be time away from home, on holiday; or it may just be time off work, where you don’t go away anywhere.
When we take time away from our standard everyday life, we often do so because we feel we need time to relax; to recharge our batteries and refresh our minds, ready for whatever lies ahead for us.
Maybe we’ve also got to a point in our relationship with God, where it too feels tired and in need of renewal. That’s ok, because God knows we need time to refresh our relationship with Him sometimes.
Do not allow this world to mould you in its own image. Instead, be transformed from the inside out by renewing your mind. As a result, you will be able to discern what God wills and whatever God finds good, pleasing, and complete.
Romans 12:2 (The Voice)
God needs us to be transformed from the inside out, so we are ready to serve Him. This verse in Romans reminds us that the transformative power of a renewed mind, enables us to understand and live out God’s will.
We hope you are able to take time away from your normal daily routine over the coming weeks of summer. We pray that you are able to relax and refresh you mind and body, but you’re also able to renew your relationship with God by being transformed from the inside out, ready to for whatever God has planned for us in the coming months.
As mentioned earlier, tonight is our last band practice before our summer break. This will therefore be the last of our Wednesday devotions for a few weeks. They will restart in August, when our band practices restart.
We thank you for your continued support of the band, and hope you have a safe and blessed summer break. We look forward to sharing more devotions with you after the summer break.
