A positive message

Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.

After a break for summer, it’s time for our band practices to start again tonight. It’s also time for our #WednesdayDevotions to restart! We hope you find blessing and challenge as you read the devotions we will share each Wednesday.

We hope you have had a fantastic summer, and were able to spend some time relaxing with your family and friends.

There’s been a lot going on in the world over these last few months, and none of it seems to be very positive does it? All we seem to hear of is war or conflicts, famine, homelessness, terrorist event or a major disaster somewhere.

Maybe that is why my thoughts and personal devotions in the last few weeks focused on positivity. More specifically, focusing on how, even when all we seem to see and hear about seems bad.

So as we restart our band practices tonight, it is good to remind ourselves that even when the world around us seems to have forgotten about God, that we shall win the world for God, if we believe in God.

Everything that has been fathered by God overcomes the corrupt world. This is the victory that has conquered the world: our faith.

Who is the person conquering the world? It is the one who truly trusts that Jesus is the Son of God

1 John 5:4-5 (The Voice)

I’ve found a song that I learned a number of years ago in my thoughts in this last week – The words of the song can be used today to reaffirm our commitment to serve God in these coming days.

I believe God shall win, do you?

We shall win! (Ivor Bosanko)

We're a band that shall conquer the foe,
If we fight in the strength of the King;
With the sword of the Spirit, we know,
We sinners to Jesus shall bring.
We have conquered in times that are past,
And scattered the foe from the field;
So we’ll fight for the King to the last,
And the sword of the Spirit we’ll wield.

Chorus
I believe we shall win,
If we fight in the strength of the King.
I believe we shall win,
If we fight in the strength of the King.

Our foe may be mighty and brave,
And the fighting be hard and severe;
But the King is the mighty to save,
And in conflict he always is near.
In the name of the King we will fight,
With our banners unfurled to the breeze;
We will battle for God and the right,
And the kingdom of Satan we’ll seize.

Ever true to the Army and God,
We will fight in the name of the King;
We shall win with the fire and the blood,
And the world to his feet we shall bring.
Ever true to the Army and God,
We will fight in the name of the King;
We shall win with the fire and the blood,
And the world to his feet we shall bring.
