The week is done

I don’t know about you, but when I get to the end of the working week it’s often with a huge sigh – partly relief, part exhaustion, and part quiet joy. Whether our days have been filled with productivity or each day has been a struggle, God was with us, through it all. Now as Friday will soon come to an end, and the weekend will begin, God invites us to rest, not just physically, but spiritually.

Maybe your week’s been one where you’ve had many responsibilities, faced challenges, or even wrestled with emotions or decisions. But the truth is, you were never meant to carry it all alone. Jesus says, “Come to Me.” Not just when you’re strong, but also when you’re struggling.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28 (NIV)

This is God’s grace in action: work and rest, effort and surrender, doing and being. We must trust that God is still working even when we stop and rest. We must trust that our worth isn’t measured by our output. We must trust that God is happy in our presence, not just our performance.

So as the week closes, let your soul breathe. Reflect on what God has carried you through this week. Celebrate small victories. Release those nagging worries and anxieties, and trust in God’s love.
