Held in the stillness

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28

It’s Friday again. The week has been long, the burdens heavy, and like me your soul may feel stretched thin. Maybe you’ve poured out energy, prayers, patience, and maybe even tears, so now at the end of another working week as we head into the weekend, Jesus simply whispers, Come.

Jesus doesn’t tell us to fix ourselves. He doesn’t tell us to figure things out ourselves. Instead He just says, come.

When we get to a Friday evening, Jesus knows what sort of week we’ve had, and offers us an invitation to stop striving, and simply be. To let the noise of the world fade and hear the gentle rhythm of His grace. Remember even although it may feel like your life is in chaos, don’t think you are forgotten. You are not lost even when life feels so overwhelming, because you are held.

You are held by the One who sees your weariness and doesn’t flinch. Held by the One who knows your name and calls you beloved. Held by the One who doesn’t demand perfection, but offers peace.

So breathe. Let go, and let God. Sit in the stillness and let your heart be reminded: you are safe in His arms.

It's in the stillness that you touch me,
And show me just how much you care.
And as my heart fills with Your wonder,
I know that you are always there.

Let this song be your gentle reminder that God is always with you, and will always care for you.
