His unwavering hold

Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.

There are seasons when our lives feel great; when prayers are answered, relationships are flourishing, peace seems to have settled around us, and everything in life is going well. We also may experience seasons when everything in our lives seems to be uncertain. For example, when we get a long awaited diagnosis, we lose your job, or anxieties take a hold of our daily life. At these times it can feel like our life is unraveling or failing apart around us.

In those moments, it’s easy to wonder: Will I make it through? Will my faith hold? Will I be ok?

We may be worried about holding onto God during those times, but in reality we don’t need to be concerned about that, as God will always keep holding onto us.

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life.

Psalm 138:7

We are held, not loosely, not temporarily, but securely, eternally, and lovingly by God.

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.

John 10:28

When our strength fails, He holds us. When our faith falters, He holds us. When our heart breaks, He holds us.

This is God’s promise to us, not that we will never face hardship, but that we will never face it alone. Christ holds us fast, through storms, through the silence, through sorrow, through it all, all because He will not let us go.

Regardless of what is going on in your life just now, rest in the truth that God will never let you go. Let that rest deep into your heart, you are not forgotten, you are not forsaken, because you are held by Him. Let this truth help you find peace.

When I fear my faith will fail, Christ will hold me fast
