Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared the devotions I shared at our band practice last Wednesday evening. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.
Lord, how I love you
You have done so much for me
Lord, how I love you
You have done so much for me
So very very much
So very very much for me
Sometimes the most powerful worship comes from repeating the truth until it sinks deep into our hearts. The chorus “Lord, how I love You, You have done so much for me, so very, very much for me” is one of those simple yet profound declarations. It reminds us that love for God isn’t abstract, instead it’s rooted in gratitude for what He has already done for us.
When we sing these words we are testifying about the greatness of God. We’re calling out the countless mercies that often go unnoticed, such as:
- The breath in our lungs this morning.
- The strength to keep going when life feels heavy.
- The forgiveness that wipes away our failures.
- The hope that anchors us when storms rage.
Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all His benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion.
Psalm 103
Every line of that psalm echoes the song’s chorus, “He has done so very, very much.”
Gratitude naturally overflows into love. When we pause to remember God’s goodness, our hearts can’t help but respond: “Lord, how I love You.” Love is not just a feeling, it’s a choice to trust Him, to walk in His ways, and to reflect His kindness to others.
Let this chorus become a prayer for everyday life by whispering silently over and over as you go about your daily activities. Each repetition is a reminder that we are held, we are blessed, and we are loved beyond measure.
