Unspeakable joy

Sometimes we think God only shows up in the big moments, the miracles, the milestones, the mountaintop experiences, but lately, I’ve noticed Him in some of the little things.

Like the way a hymn/song lyric sneaks into my head while I’m making tea; or the quiet joy of finding a parking space right outside my house!

Scripture reminds us:

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it

Psalm 118:24

Notice it doesn’t say “the big day” or “the perfect day.” Just this day. Ordinary, messy, tea-stained, difficult days are still gifts from God.

Joy doesn’t always roar, it often whispers. It’s in the smile of a friend, the warmth of a cuppa, the chorus of a familiar song. And when we choose to notice those small joys, we’re practicing gratitude. We’re training our hearts to see God’s goodness everywhere.

So tonight, I’m celebrating the gospel of small joys. The silly, the ordinary, the easily overlooked. Because if God can turn water into wine, He can surely turn our difficult times into a reason to smile.

May you find your joy in the little things this coming week, and may those little things remind you of the big love that holds us all, God’s love.
