Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared the devotions I shared at our band practice last Wednesday evening. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.
Say, are you weary? Are you heavy laden?
Burdened with sorrow, weighted down with care?
Are you in bondage? Do you want deliverance?
Come then, with me – there is refuge from despair.
Chorus
I know a fount where sins are washed away;
I know a place where night is turned to day;
Burdens are lifted, blind eyes made to see;
There’s a wonder-working power in the blood of Calvary
Wondrous Deliverer! Sin-forgiving Saviour!
Cleanser of hearts! Unfailing Friend and Guide!
No one has ever trusted unavailing;
No one has claimed of His love and been denied.
The song ‘I Know a Fount’ paints a picture of God’s grace as a living stream, always flowing, and always available. In other words, a fountain is a source that never runs dry, just like God’s love. In the same way, the mercy of Jesus is not a one-time gift, but a continual flow. When we feel weary, stained, or broken, we don’t have to wonder if His grace is still enough, because it always will be.
Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters
Isaiah 55:1
This invitation to come to the waters, is not just an invitation for those in the past, as it’s also for us today. The fountain of Christ’s love is open to each of us right now, and it’s ready to refresh and restore us.
So let this song be a reminder that there is a place of cleansing and renewal, and it is found in Him. We encourage you to step into that stream today, and let His living water bring peace to your soul.
