How did we get to December?

Can we just pause for a moment and ask, “how on earth is it December already?” One minute we’re enjoying some warm sunny weather in the summer, and now suddenly there’s Christmas trees appearing in houses, and the shops are blasting Mariah Carey on repeat!

It feels unbelievable that we’re only a few weeks away from Christmas. The calendar says so, but my brain is still somewhere back in October.

This week has been a juggling act:

  • Work deadlines and priorities that refuse to take a holiday.
  • BSAB Band social media/website posts that don’t write or edit themselves.
  • Christmas lists that I’m just not ready to consider who I need to buy for.

And yet, there’s something magical about this busy season. Even when I’m running between work tasks, Band tasks and Christmas errands, there should be joy in the chaos. The smell of cinnamon candles, the sparkle of fairy lights, the laughter of friends—it all should remind us why December is worth the hassle.

So here we are, the first Friday evening in December. The week is done, the weekend is waiting, and Christmas is just around the corner. Yes, it’s busy. Yes, it’s a little overwhelming. Here’s to embracing the madness, enjoying the mince pies, and remembering that even in the busiest season, there’s always room for us to feel joy.
