Helping us

Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.

They all realised they were in a place of holy mystery, that God was at work among them. They were quietly worshipful—and then noisily grateful, calling out among themselves, “God is back, looking to the needs of his people!” The news of Jesus spread all through the country.

Luke 7:16-17 (The Message)

When Jesus walked the earth, people couldn’t help but notice something extraordinary, in His words, His compassion, His miracles. They recognised the unmistakable presence of God. They said, “God has come to help His people.”

Jesus came to reveal the heart of God, to show us what God is like, how God loves, and how God moves toward His people with mercy and hope.

That same God is still at work today. Sometimes quietly, sometimes unmistakably, but always faithfully. We just need to pause long enough to look for Him: in kindness offered, in strength we didn’t expect, in moments of grace that catch us off guard.

As we look for God at work, we pray that He will work through us. That our lives, our music, our conversations, and our actions will help others see that God is not only here for us, but here for them too.

In the song ‘This is Our God’ we’re reminded that the God who helped His people in the past, is the same God who helps His people now.
