Sunday nights always seem to be a time when all my emotions from the last week come front and centre, as well as all the things that are on my mind for this coming week.
In other words, I look back on the week that’s passed, grateful for the moments of joy, still carrying the weight of the harder ones. And then as I look ahead to this new week it’s often filled with times of uncertainty, tiredness, and often a dose of hope.
Here’s a verse from Philippians that reminds us of the strength and confidence we can get from God:
I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.
Philippians 4:13 (NIV)
It’s a verse I’m sure many of us know by heart, however I think we all can take different meaning from it depending on our current circumstances. Some weeks we feel strong, ready, energised. While other weeks we may feel stretched, weary, or quietly anxious about what tomorrow might bring.
But we must remember that Paul reminds us that our strength doesn’t come from our own mood, our energy levels, or our circumstances. Instead, it comes from Christ, the One who never changes, never weakens, and never steps back from us.
- His strength is steady when ours is shaky.
- His strength is enough when ours runs out.
- His strength carries us through what we feel we can’t carry on.
So as this Sunday night settles in, let these truths rest gently on your heart:
- You don’t face the week ahead in your own strength.
- You don’t walk into tomorrow alone.
- You don’t have to find courage you don’t feel.
Christ Himself strengthens you for the tasks, the conversations, the decisions, the challenges, and the blessings that await.
May this new week be one where you feel His presence beside you, His peace within you, and His strength lifting you in every moment.
