As another week draws to a close, Friday evening gives us a opportunity to pause, breathe, and reflect.
So often we rush from one week into the next without taking time to consider what has happened along the way. So before you look ahead to the weekend, spend a few moments looking back at this week.
What have you achieved this week?
Perhaps you completed a project at work, managed a difficult situation, encouraged a friend, cared for a family member, or simply kept going when life felt challenging. Not every achievement comes with applause or recognition. Some victories are quiet and unseen. Yet they matter just as much.
Take a moment to thank God for the strength, wisdom, and perseverance He has given you throughout the week. Every step forward, however small it may seem, is worth acknowledging.
But as you reflect on what you have accomplished, consider another question.
What impact have you had on the people you’ve encountered this week?
You may never fully know the answer.
A kind word spoken at the right moment may have lifted a heavy heart. A smile may have brightened someone’s difficult day. Your patience, understanding, or willingness to listen may have provided comfort when it was needed most.
Sometimes we assume that making a difference requires grand gestures, yet God often works through the simplest acts of love and kindness. The conversation you barely remember may be the one another person needed most.
Jesus reminds us:
Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:16
As followers of Christ, we carry His presence wherever we go. Whether in our workplaces, homes, churches, community groups, or among strangers, we leave footprints in the lives of others. The question is not whether we have had an influence, but what kind of influence we have been.
As this week comes to an end, thank God for every opportunity He has given you to serve, encourage, and support others. Ask Him to show you where your words and actions have reflected His love, and where you can grow in the days ahead.
Tonight, rest in the knowledge that God has been at work through you, even in ways you may never see. The seeds you have planted through kindness, faithfulness, and compassion may continue to bear fruit long after this week has passed.
As you reflect on your achievements and the lives you’ve touched this week, take a few moments to consider this simple prayer: “Lord, make me a blessing to someone every day.”
