3 John 1:11 (The Passion Translation)

Delightfully loved ones, don’t imitate what is evil, but imitate that which is good. Whoever does good is of God; whoever does evil has not seen God.

Yesterday I spoke about how we must imitate, or act, as God would. Today it’s about reinforcing that message.

If we do good, we are doing what God would do, but when we’re fail to do good, we’re not doing God’s work.

So when you see someone in need, do good, stop and help them.

When you see someone upset, do good, stop and hug them.

When you see someone by themselves and alone, do good, go and talk to them.

For me

Yesterday in Swapping Places I spoke about how, in life, we can often be asked to swapped places with someone else. However the most significant swap was when Jesus took our place on the cross, just so we could be forgiven of our sins.

Today I want to remind us all that Jesus took our place, for us! The following lyrics remind us of this so well

Those were my nails
That was my crown
That pierced Your hands and Your brow
Those were my thorns
Those were my scorns
Those were my tears that fell down
And just as You said it would be
You did it all for me
After You counted the cost
You took my shame, my blame
On my cross

Remember the true reason we celebrate Easter – Jesus died for me and for you. He gave everything for us.

A few days ago I came across a t-shirt I’d bought at a concert, and on the back of it it said, “I’ve been waiting…for so long””.

My first question is, do you know what concert I’d have bought that t-shirt at?

Secondly I want to ask you, what are you waiting for?

We spend a lot of time waiting don’t we, in queue, for someone to arrive or depart, for something to start or finish, maybe wait for someone to tell us how they feel about us, exam results, or wait for news of a loved one… the list is endless.

What about God? Have you waiting for him to answer your prayers? Are you still waiting for him to answer your prayers?

If you haven’t already accepted God into your life, it’s not too late, because he is still waiting for you. God waits for each one of us to turn to him, and he will wait forever if that’s how long it takes us to acknowledge him as our Lord.

Did you identify yourself in yesterday’s blog post (Hardest Time) when I described some of the characteristics that can come to the fore when we’re going through a difficult period in our lives?

The thing is, I’ve found in my own life that the characteristics I described yesterday, only become obvious when we’re haven’t given our all to God. When we keep back parts of our life from God, they are the things which will cause us problems and stress us out, because the bits of our life we’ve put into God’s hands, I can can say with assurance, He will handle.

If you’re going through a tough time, make sure you’ve given your all to God, because although that will not mean life will suddenly become easy, it will mean that you’ll have the reassurance that God is with you, looking after you, and caring for you. In turn you can be sure brighter and happier days will be ahead for you.

Yes, it can be incredibly difficult to let go of everything in your life, and give it all to God, but let me assure you, it is more than worth it!

Do you think it’s important to share your life experiences with others?

Do you think it’s important to share your Christian experiences with others?

The answer, in my opinion, to both those questions is, of course it is, how else to others learn from our mistakes and our rewarding moments!

If by sharing something of my experiences through my blog, I can stop one person from making the same mistakes I’ve made in life, my blogging has been worthwhile.

Or if through something I say in my blog posts, just one person is challenged to find God for themselves, my blogging has been worthwhile.

It may feel like the world doesn’t notice us, or even care about us at time, but God always does. And because God cares, He does something for us, He sends someone to us to help us through whatever situation we are currently facing.

So don’t ever think God doesn’t notice what we’re going through, because that couldn’t be further from the truth.

They tell us that exercising and walking is good for us, and good for our physical health. I’m not going to dispute that advice, I am going to look at another time when we go for a walk…

We can sometimes feel as if God has deserted us, but how about we consider it from His perspective:

Very true isn’t it – God never deserts any of us, but we do desert Him when we think we can deal with life issues ourself, or that we know better than Him.

When will we learn, we should not go for a walk without God!

When we hold something that is precious to us, we hold it firmly so that we don’t let go.

God considers each of us precious to Him, and that’s why in Isaiah 41 we read:

I, your God, have a firm grip on you and I’m not letting go. I’m telling you, Don’t panic. I’m right here to help you. (The Message)

God loves us so much that he keeps hold of us so that he is always there to help us and to guide us.

You are precious to God, and so He’s holding you firmly in His grasp.

Are you any good at making things. i.e. DIY or bit of home improvement?

Let me ask you something, when you have spent many hours making or improving something, and are happy/proud of the result, how do you feel if someone is clumsy or inconsiderate very near to your handiwork? Annoyed, frustrated, protective of your work?

My guess would be that you are protective towards your work, after all it took you time and effort, so you don’t want it to be destroyed by someone’s carelessness. Is this not like God’s relationship with us? He made us, is proud of his handiwork, and wants to protect us always.

Remember, God is watching over you.

Problems, problems, problems. Sometimes that’s all that seems to be going on in our lives.

It’s during times like these we need a reminder from God, such as this one:

Sometimes God teaches us how to solve our problems. Sometimes God teaches us how to face our problems. ~ Nicky Gumbel
