It’s time

Sometimes there are things that you just know it’s time you need to do them.

How about your faith? Is it time to remind yourself that God can provided everything you need, when you need it?

If your faith has faltered or you’ve found yourself relying on your own strength rather than trusting God, it’s time to rekindle your faith. God is ready and waiting for you to let Him take control of your life again.

It is time to want more of God and less of ourselves.
It is time to have faith that we can’t contain.
It is time to let faith and the Giver of faith control our lives.

Because God has answers to all of our questions.
Because Jesus have the words of eternal life.
Because the Holy Spirit empowers us for abundant living.

Gracious God,
You are everything we need.
Be praised forever and ever.
You are holy.
Be praised forever and ever.
You bless us richly.
Be praised forever and ever.
You love us dearly.
Be praised forever and ever.
Set a fire deep in our soul.
Be praised forever and ever.
We want more of you.
Be praised forever and ever.
In Jesus’ name,

When at school no matter how good I was at sports, I was always one of the last people to picked to be in a team during the sports lessons (though I was picked in the school teams). I never quite got that at the time, as I was always quite good at racket sports, football, volleyball etc, but still never got picked until there was nobody else left. Looking back these days, I now realise that while maybe my focus would have been on picking people to help my team win, others were simply picking their friends to be in their team, and that explains why I was always left to the end!

While I may not have been chosen to be part of a team chosen by my so-called fiends, and that hurt, I do know that I have still been chosen.

Ephesians 1:4-6 (The Message)

Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son.

God has chosen me to be me. He’s chosen me to be part of his family. He doesn’t care what I’ve done in the past. All he wants is for me to seek Him as my friend and saviour. I’ve done that and the good news is, He has also chosen you – All you have to do is seek him.

Through the dark I hear Your voice
Rising up I will rejoice
For I was lost but now I’m found
‘Cause even death can’t hold You down
You are God, You’re the Great “I Am”
Breath of life I breathe You in
Even in the fire, I’m alive in You
You are strong in my brokenness
Sovereign over every step
Even in the fire, I’m alive
I’m alive in You

Christ is alive, but is he living in you?

Even when we go through really difficult times, it’s important that we still keep our faith in God. We we put our faith completely in God, we are alive in Christ, as Christ is living within us.

Be alive in Christ, and continue to help others put their faith in God, and find new life!

When you hear someone singing does it make you feel happy. People often sing when they feel happy. For example a child singing a tune to themselves as they play; or an adult singing their favourite songs in the shower.

If this is true, shouldn’t we all be singing about Jesus all the time because Jesus makes us happy?

What does God deserve from us? Our time when we’ve nothing else to do; Our heart or just the bit of us we think we can spare?

That’s not what God wants or even what He deserves from us. He deserves every part of our life, every problem, every feeling, every thought, all there is of us.

We live in a time where many believe there are no such things a miracles. However, you’ll still find people saying things such as

  • “It’s a miracle I got home in one piece”
  • “We need a miracle to get this job completed on time”

Those aren’t really real miracles that are being reference here are they, they are simply figures of speech.

There may be a lack of belief that miracles still happen these days, but I believe they do. For example

  • People who are terminally ill who not only don’t die, but find they have no trace of the terminal illness any more.
  • People who suffer from alcohol or drug abuse, but through the influence and guidance of someone who tries to help them, realise God loves them, and so turn their life around by giving their life to God.

The One who made the blind to see
Is moving here in front of me, moving here in front of me
The One who made the deaf to hear
Is silencing my every fear, silencing my every fear

The One who does impossible is
Reaching out to make me whole
The One who put death in its place
His life is flowing through my veins

These are just a couple of examples of true miracles. I’m sure you can see evidence of God performing miracles all around you.

When we call out to someone, you hope they hear you and respond as quickly as they can. When we call out to God, He will respond to us before we even utter a sound, because He knows what we need even before we know we’re in trouble.
Maybe that’s why in the Jesus Culture song Fierce, they describe God’s love for us as being
Like a tidal wave
Crashing over me
Rushing in to meet me here
Your love is fierce
Like a hurricane
That I can’t escape
Tearing through the atmosphere
Your love is fierce
God’s love is fierce. He loves us, and cares about what we do. He doesn’t want you to turn away from Him, so he will fight fiercely for us.
God will never let you down, even through the fiercest of storms, so trust Him.

Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching. ~ Hebrews 10:24-25 (The Message)

Are you an encourager or do you inadvertently discourage those around you?

Yesterday in Worth Dying For, I once again spoke about how we all have disagreements with others. I then suggested we must all rise above any personal feeling or opinions, and simply love and care for one another.

When we love and care for others, we in turn encourage and support them too – Isn’t that what God needs us to do? So be that person who encourages those around you, because when we encourage one another when can achieve great things for God, together.

Is it just a coincidence that “do not be afraid” is written in the bible 365 times?

I would doubt it – every message in the bible is a direct message from God. So to tell us something 365 times, suggests to me that God wants us to remember that He is with us every day, no matter what each day brings, therefore there’s no reason for us to fear what lies ahead, for us or for those we love.

On Saturday I shared this picture which represents our journey through the various stages of life:

There can be times during our life journey that we do things, just because we think we should do them, rather than doing them because we know it’s what God would want us to do.

We must always remember that it’s only through Jesus that we can find the foundation and structure that we need in our lives. Jesus can be the stable ground on which we can build our lives because He is all we need.
