If ever you start to doubt Him,
He’d say, there is more to you than this.

Have you ever felt that people misjudge the person you are, because they only see or know about a small part of your life? We are human, and human nature tells us that within just a few seconds of meeting someone, we form an option of them.

How ridiculous is that! How can we possibly form understanding about a person based on just a few seconds?

God has known us all our lives. He know how we feel, He knows what we’re thinking, even before those thoughts have even formed in our minds. God is therefore best qualified to understand the person we are, both publicly and privately. So please remember we can never know every little thing about a person, therefore do not form opinions of how that person feels or who or what they care about, or even how good or bad they are at something, because you do not know that person in full, like God does – There is always more to a person than what you can see.

More to you than this by Mark Schultz

I know you’re compared to some image on a page, but it’s fake.
And you spend your life just to try and look that way.

Oh but there’s a girl crying out inside you,
and she’s longing to be heard.

[Chorus:]
Cause there is more, there is more, there is more to you.
Than the lies you believed they were never true.
If ever you start to doubt Him,
He’d say, there is more to you than this.

So maybe you thought if you gave yourself away, he would stay.
And maybe you felt it was worth the price you’d pay.
And you tell yourself, it doesn’t really matter.
But your heart will start to break.

[Chorus]

And all the love you need, you cannot find it.
Inside a magazine, you cannot buy it.

Don’t let ’em pull you in, don’t let ’em sell you.
Your God hung on a cross. He died to tell you…

[Chorus]

More to you than this.

I know you’re compared to some image on a page, but it’s fake.

How difficult is it to forgive someone when they do or say something over and over again, that hurts you?

It’s incredibly difficult isn’t it. It can be hard to forgive some people just the once, but when they continue to hurt you over and over again, it can seem impossible.

That’s why it’s so incredible that no matter how often we hurt God by doing or saying things which are not Christ-like, He still forgives us.

I love the way The Passion Translation puts Psalm 130:3-4, which sums up what I’ve said so well:

Lord, if you measured us and marked us with our sins, who would ever have their prayers answered? But your forgiving love is what makes you so wonderful. No wonder you are loved and worshiped!

It’s awful when someone betrays you, but even worse when it’s someone you trust isn’t it. That’s exactly what happened to Jesus, as one of his disciples, Judas, betrayed him.

Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve disciples, went to the leading priests and asked, “How much will you pay me to betray Jesus to you?” And they gave him thirty pieces of silver. From that time on, Judas began looking for an opportunity to betray Jesus. ~ Matthew 26:14-16 (NLT)

Judas was paid to betray Jesus, so this got me wondering, could I be bought into betraying Jesus and denying my faith? I hope not! How about you?

Those of you who know me will know I have a few favourite Christian artists – one of them is Mark Schultz. So it was no surprise when I heard his song entitled “Different Kind of Christmas”, that I loved it. I first heard it just a few months after my Mum passed away, and so this song touched me because of the lyrics and the story behind it.

When we suffer loss, Christmas can be a really awful time as we are mourning our loss so deeply. Two years on from my Mum’s death and four years on from my Dad’s death, I’m still struggling, and in the last few weeks I’ve found myself missing them more than ever – probably because everyone I talk to is talking about spending Christmas with all their family.

Here’s what Mark Schultz had to say about his song:

This song is special for me and my family. I wrote it with my wife after her dad passed away 3 years ago. It was our first Christmas without him, and Kate was decorating for the holidays. She came into the garage holding a box of ornaments and had tears streaming down her face. She said to me, “it’s a different kind of Christmas this year”.

At some point in our life we will all lose someone that is close to us, and that first Christmas without them is a tough one to get through. I hope this song will bring comfort to those who are mourning the loss of someone this season. Please share it with someone who might need to hear it this year.

May the peace and love of Christmas be with you today and every day so that the pain and loss you may be feeling this Christmas, becomes a little more bearable.

Our world is in an awful state at present, but can you imagine what it would be like if Jesus had never been born or if he hadn’t died at Calvary?

John 11:25 (NLT)

Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.

Maybe I’ve read it somewhere, or someone has told me, but I seem to think I’ve heard that the resurrection of Jesus has been investigated and examined more times that many other events in history.

For years, people have investigated the facts of the resurrection. Now that tells me that people are either  desperate to prove conclusively to the unbelievers that Christ’s resurrection actually happened, or that they are keen to prove us believers that the resurrection was simply a huge hoax.

I don’t know which of these categories of people you fall into, but anything that gives us believers the opportunity to discuss the facts of that first Easter, and tell others why we believe in Christ’s resurrection, has to be positive doesn’t it, as if we don’t talk about the really meaning of Easter, how will the rest of the world know that Christ died at Calvary just so we could be forgiven.

Hank Hanegraaff said:

You see, without resurrection there is no hope. Indeed, without resurrection, there is no Christianity.

How true is that!

If Jesus hadn’t been born; if Jesus hadn’t been crucified; if Jesus hadn’t risen from the grave…just think what sort of state this world would be in now!

Last week in one of my posts I talked about how Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for those who are missing someone. There’s one Christmas song which has always touched me because of how it talks about the ones we miss at this time of year, and that’s Mark Schultz song A Different Kind of Christmas which he wrote in honour of his father-in-law who passed away four years ago.

I hope you find this as beautiful and moving as I do:

A few of months ago as many of you will know, my Mum passed away. My Mum loved everything about Christmas: the music, the Christmas films, family time and of course the reason we celebrate Christmas, Jesus – so I have found this festive season particularly difficult.

Those of you who know me will know I have a few favourite Christian artists, one of whom is Mark Schultz, so when I heard the above song, and the story behind it on Facebook, it really touched me. I knew right then that I had to share it with you today, Christmas Day, in the hope that it may help someone else who is mourning the loss of someone close this Christmas – Here’s what Mark Schultz had to say about this song:

This song is special for me and my family. I wrote it with my wife after her dad passed away 3 years ago. It was our first Christmas without him, and Kate was decorating for the holidays. She came into the garage holding a box of ornaments and had tears streaming down her face. She said to me, “it’s a different kind of Christmas this year”.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Ever thought you’ve had too many struggles to deal with in your life?

Ever questioned why you? Why you have had to cope with one issue or problem after another?

Well here’s your answer…

struggle (2)

Life can be very tough at times, but as the above picture says, I know God is with me through all the high and lows of life, and because of that, I am confident that no matter what I face, God is with me. How about you?

I’m sure when at school, we all had our favourite teachers, but what made them our favourite?

Was it the energetic and enthusiastic way they taught? Was it their expertise and knowledge of their subject? Was it because they made sure ever child in the class was keeping up with the lesson? Was it because they took time to make sure you understood their teaching? Was it because they cared about you and other pupils and cared that you each did as well as you possibly could in your education?

IS it just me, or is there a striking similarity in this between the characteristics of our favourite and best school teachers and God? Our school teachers look out for us in our education, while God looks out for us in every aspect of our life. So let God be your favourite teacher, and continue to learn from Him and grow spiritually each day.

Did the words of the song in the above video ring true for you?

Do you believe God will carry you through every problem, every trial?

I do! God is my strength and comfort at all times, and He can be yours too, you just need to ask Him

The words of the above song, He Will Carry Me by Mark Schultz,  are so true to me, I want to share these with you

I call, You hear me
I’ve lost it all
And it’s more than I can bear
I feel so empty

You’re strong, I’m weary
I’m holding on
But I feel like giving in
But still You’re with me

(Pre-chorus and Chorus)
And even though I’m walking
Through the valley of the shadow
I will hold tight to the hand of Him
Whose love will comfort me
And when all hope is gone
And I’ve been wounded in the battle
He is all the strength that I will ever need
He will carry me

I know I’m broken
But You alone
Can mend this heart of mine
You’re always with me
And even though I’m walking
Through the valley of the shadow
I will hold tight to the hand of Him
Whose love will comfort me
And when all hope is gone
And I’ve been wounded in the battle
He is all the strength that I will ever need
He will carry me
He will carry me

(Bridge)
And even though I feel so lonely
Like I have never been before
You never said it would be easy
But You said You’d see me through the storm

And even though I’m walking
Through the valley of the shadow
I will hold tight to the hand of Him
Whose love will comfort me
And when all hope is gone
And I’ve been wounded in the battle
He is all the strength that I will ever need
He will carry me
He will carry me
He will carry me
