What do we really need in life?

Food, water, air, clothes, a roof over our head, money, love, a friend?

Some of those things are necessities for us to live, but some are not essential they are just things that would make life a little easier or happier for us.

Maybe all we really need is God!

Maybe all we really need is to believe!

It’s not only physical wounds that can cause great pain – Emotional hurts and wounds can be just as painful, and in some cases, can be longer lasting.

While physical wounds are often visible, the emotional ones are invisible. People walk around everyday with emotional pain that we never see, and therefore are not aware of.

To heal an emotional wound, it sometimes just takes someone to show compassion, An act of kindness towards someone can be the one thing that makes someones day, and help them put to one side, even just for a few minutes, their emotional pain.

So go on, make a kind gesture to someone today, you may just make their day!

No words

It can be difficult to find words in some situations. It can even be difficult to find the right words when we try to pray. Thankfully God knows what’s in our heart so we don’t have to put it into words.

So when we can put into words our prayers, God still hears them, and so He can still answer our prayers.

your past is a lesson

We can try not to be defined by our past, but sometimes it’s other people we need to remind of the above, as it can be others who decide we are still the person we were years ago without even giving us a chance to show we’ve changed.

This can make it difficult to win people’s trust or respect, but I believe if we truly have learnt from our past the “new” us will shine through so that people realise we really have learnt from our past and have changed.

Do we understand why God continues to make us face difficulties?

Our difficulties make us who we are, by giving us scars…not necessarily physical scars but emotional and spiritual scars which remind us of those times and hopefully remind us that it was through God’s help we got through those difficulties stronger than we were before.

So stay strong, because whatever you’re going through today will make you stronger tomorrow.

Yesterday we celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ. Today we think about just what His birth meant to Mary, his mother – How must she have felt to know that in her arms she was holding the Son of God?

What an awesome responsibility Mary and Joseph had to nurture their son, God‘s Son. I don’t know about you, but I think I would have crumbled under the pressure, thankfully Mary and Joseph weren’t me, and they did a wonderful job of caring for and looking after Jesus as he grew from a baby into man who saved the world!

Child of Love

Child of wonder, close Your eyes
Rest here in my arms tonight
Someday You will save the world
But tonight I’ll hold You right here in my arms

Precious miracle of life, child of love
Gift of hope, the gift of light from the Father above
And You were made for all mankind
You will always be mine, child of love

Gabriel‘s promise has come true
God has blessed this world with You
And as I humbly hold You now
In my heart I know I’m holding Heaven’s child

Precious miracle of life, child of love
Gift of hope, the gift of light from the Father above
And You were made for all mankind
But You will always be mine, child of love

Precious miracle of life, child of love
Gift of hope, the gift of light from the Father above
And You were made for all mankind
But You will always be mine, child of love

Child of wonder, close Your eyes

Less Like Scars by Sara Groves

It’s been a hard year
But I’m climbing out of the rubble
These lessons are hard
Healing changes are subtle
But every day it’s

Less like tearing, more like building
Less like captive, more like willing
Less like breakdown, more like surrender
Less like haunting, more like remember

And I feel you here
And you’re picking up the pieces
Forever faithful
It seemed out of my hands, a bad situation
But you are able
And in your hands the pain and hurt
Look less like scars and more like character

Less like a prison, more like my room
It’s less like a casket, more like a womb
Less like dying, more like transcending
Less like fear, less like an ending

And I feel you here
And you’re picking up the pieces
Forever faithful
It seemed out of my hands, a bad situation
But you are able
And in your hands the pain and hurt
Look less like scars

Just a little while ago
I couldn’t feel the power or the hope
I couldn’t cope, I couldn’t feel a thing
Just a little while back
I was desperate, broken, laid out, hoping
You would come

And I need you
And I want you here
And I feel you

And I know you’re here
And you’re picking up the pieces
Forever faithful
It seemed out of my hands, a bad, bad situation
But you are able

And in your hands the pain and hurt
 Look less like scars [x3]

And more like character

Yes, as the above song says, it’s been a tough year for me. Having said that, it is getting a little easier, although I most definitely still have some very tough days, when I feel as if my world has fallen apart, not just because of the death of both my Dad and my Aunt Mae, but also because other events and developments this year.

What keeps me going? Sometimes, if I’m honest, I don’t really know what gets me through each day. Other times I am sure it’s because of those around me. I know that know matter what kind of day I’m having, and what kind of challenges I’m facing, God is with me and helping me, and help to heal my wounds.

If your life seems full of open wounds, turn to God, He can help heal your wounds.

Do you wonder as you watch my face
If a wiser one should  have had my place?
But I offer all I am
For the mercy of Your plan
Help me be strong, help me be, help me

Breath of Heaven, hold me together
Be forever near me, breath of Heaven
Breath of Heaven, lighten my darkness
Pour over me Your holiness for You are holy

God has a plan for each us. What God has planned for us, we can achieve, even if it seems impossible. We simply have to let Him help us, as He can lighten our darkness, and help keep us strong.

Breath of Heaven, help me

I’ve been sadly reminded yet again this week just how fragile life is because, for the second time in a week we received the devastating news that a member of our family had died suddenly. As the following quote says, it’s just as well we don’t know what’s round the corner!

None of us knows what might happen even the next minute, yet still we go forward. Because we trust. Because we have Faith ~ Paulo Coelho

Yes, the breath I’m taking right now, may be my last, but should I ponder this thought and never again do anything useful or positive for either myself or anyone else? No, I must keep going…not because I can’t face the moment when I take my last breath, but simply because I believe God is with me every moment of every day, and I know He will be there when I do take my final breath.

Life throws us some really difficult situations at times – Situations which, at times, may make us want to just give up. However when our faith is strong, nothing, not even the worst situations and circumstances that life throws our way, can shake our belief that God is with us through it all.

So keep going. Trust God.

This is 2010, how many people can you name who died say 50 years ago? Of those you named, how often do you hear people talking about them? A few times maybe – Possibly just at “special” times of the year?

How about naming some people who died 100 years ago? Or say 500 years ago?

Is it getting more difficult the more years we go back?

What about 2000 years ago?

The one person I’m sure many of us can name from that time is Jesus, but how often do you speak about him, or hear others talking about him?

Jesus had and still has, a huge impact on this world. The very fact that over 2000 years since he lived on earth, we are still talking about him surely shows what a huge influence and impact he has, and continues to have, on so many people’s lives.

Is Jesus still influencing you? Is He still making an impact in your life?
