In my post Music to Touch Our Hearts on 2nd October 2010, I listed a number of pieces of music which always pull at my heart-strings. So today I want to talk to you about the song entitled More Than Just Enough, which was the 4th piece of music I listed.
More Than Just Enough was a song first brought to us by our thenSalvation Army corps officers (ministers) at Bellshill, Karen and Gary Robb, following their visit to Willow Creek in Chicago. We all loved the song, and Olwyn Mathie (Bellshill) then used it as a vocal solo with a number of us providing backing vocals – She used it both at Bellshill and when the band visited Sheffield Salvation Army for a weekend visit.
All this took place at a time in my life when I was really struggling. I was struggling with my health, my faith and everything about my life…life in other words was a really struggle for me.
Prayer was always a huge part of my life, as to me it was the one thing which I’d always had, no matter how tough life was, I was able to talk to God in prayer. However during this part of my life, even prayer had deserted me, as whenever I tried to pray I could find no words, my tears were all that flowed easily for me. It was tough. I had been unwell for a few years but despite countless tests no diagnosis had been found yet. Added to this I couldn’t pray, so I was questioning my own faith and even the existence of God.
Maybe that was why, when I listened to this song, the words and the music touched me so deeply – I just needed to be reminded that God was all I needed…He was more than just enough for me.
God doesn’t give you the people you want, He gives you the people you NEED.
To help you, to hurt you, to leave you, to love you and to make you into the person you were meant to be.
Since that time, life has had it’s good times and it’s bad times, and yes I’m still struggling on a number of fronts, but not in my belief that God exists, and that He loves me unconditionally. If ever I begin to doubt that God loves me, I simply turn on my ipod and listen to Sara Luneack from singing More Than Just Enough.
Please listen to this song and be reminded that God is ALL you need because He is more than just enough…He is everything!
