Are you looking for simple ways to encourage your heart and nourish your soul?

In the last while I’ve given you some ideas which will hopefully inspire you to implement them in your own life, and over the coming weeks I’ll share some others with you.

So here’s today’s suggestion:

Turn your mobile off!

Oooh a very controversial suggestion this week isn’t it?

Mobile phone offWe all seem to be permanently attached to our mobile phones don’t we? The second they alert us to an incoming phone call, text of IM, we snatch the phone and immediately answer/read/respond to the incoming call or message. It doesn’t even matter who we’re with or where we are, our phones still seem to be the most important thing around us.

So why not take a break from the constant communication with others via your phone, and turn it off, just for a few hours. During that time, why not spend some quality time with your family, alone with your thoughts or spend some quiet time with God.

Make sure your life isn’t ruled by your mobile and the demands of others, by taking some time out from your mobile phone.

I’m glad I still have only an old-fashioned “dumb” phone. I can’t get all those social media alerts. (Not that I’m on much social media anyway!) But it’s a lot nicer with out all this technological stress!! Thanks for the great suggestion to just shut down sometimes!
