Are you looking for simple ways to encourage your heart and nourish your soul?

In the last while I’ve given you some ideas which will hopefully inspire you to implement them in your own life, and over the coming weeks I’ll share some others with you.

So here’s today’s suggestion:

Accept your imperfections

I personally am guilty of expecting perfect from myself, but over the years I’m come to accept at least some of my imperfections. In doing so I’ve found it does reduce the stress and leaves more room for acceptance.

So when your life feels like a sinking boat and everything is going wrong for you, it’s not the time time to insist or expect perfection from yourself. Yes, there will still be some things which need to perfect, but others won’t. e.g. A slightly overcooking dinner – You’ll not poison anyone so it doesn’t need to be perfect; Your hair isn’t styled the way you want – Unless you’re a model and going to be on the cover of a fashion magazine, I’m sure it doesn’t matter what your hair looks like…

There are only 24 hours in a day, so whatever your stresses are should quite rightly take your focus, so it’s definitely time to lower your high personal expectations and standards…at least for the time being.

Such good advice, and so true! Thanks for putting this in perspective for us. ‘Good enough’ is good enough 🙂

I read a quote this week which has stuck with me “Strive for progress not perfection”. Your post just confirmed how important that is.
