Whether you are trying to get fit, lose weight, starting a new hobby, learning a new language or skill, or trying to make some other change in your life, I’m sure we’ve all found ourselves wondering where to start.
It can sometimes be so overwhelming wondering where or how to start that we can actually completely put ourselves off, and end up not starting anywhere at all!
I think there’s probably two reasons why we don’t achieve our targets:
- We try to do too many things at the same time; or
- We don’t even try to get started because we feel so overwhelmed
So how do we get started with things when we feel overwhelmed?
I’ve found the best thing to do is just to focus on one thing. To identify that one thing, it’s best to identify several tasks and then choose the simplest to start with, that way you’ll quickly feel you’ve achieved something, and will find it easier to move forward as you tackle the remaining tasks.
