A couple of days ago in Vulnerable, I spoke about how we shouldn’t let ourselves become spiritually vulnerable, because God is always there for us. But maybe we need to look a bit more closely at what being vulnerable means – Here’s the dictionary definition:
Exposed to the possibility of being attacked or harmed, either physically or emotionally.
That’s a phrase that sends a cold shiver down my spine, as that’s something I really find difficult to cope with, even though I know God is always with me.
I’ve never been comfortable showing my emotions publicly. In fact I’d go as far as saying it’s one of my worst nightmares, to fall apart in public! Therefore, when I’m feeling emotional, I feel vulnerable, and when I feel vulnerable, I feel more emotional…a vicious circle.
I know I’m not the only person who doesn’t like feeling vulnerable. So I’m guessing I’m not alone feeling isolated, alone and embarrassed when I’m emotional and vulnerable.
When we feel vulnerable we must remind ourselves that we are never ever alone, even when it feels like the world is ignoring us, because God is always at our side. We simply need to trust Him…I just need to remember to take my own advice!
