We have 2 ears, but do we always use them to listen?
I’m sure we can all think of times when we’ve been talking to someone, but we are very aware that they aren’t really listening to us.
So what signs do they give out that tell us they’re not really listening? Looking around, but not looking at you; doing something else while you’re talking task such as typing an email, writing a note, or reading a document; saying ‘Yes’ or nodding agreement at random times without making eye contact with you.
When you are the one that’s talking, it can be annoying and frustrating when you know those you’re talking to aren’t really listening. That said, can we honestly say we always give our full attention to others when they are talking to us?
How about when you spend quiet time with God, do you listen completely to God, or are you distracted why things around you, or do your thoughts wander onto other people or things?
Just as it’s annoying tor us when others don’t listen to us when we’re talking, I’m sure God must get frustrated at us when we don’t focus 100% on Him.
So listen to others when they speak to you. Most importantly, listen to God.
