I recently caught the end of a TV programme recently where one of the characters said
You don’t get anywhere until there is a departure
Unknown
Those words have really stuck with me. As far as I know the person who said them in the TV programme, didn’t say them in any kind of Christian or religious situation. However the words stuck with me because they reminded me that in order to truly live like Christ, we need to leave, or depart from, our past self, and be the new person God wants us to be.
So depart from your past mistakes and arrive at the new you, where Christ is at the centre of everything you do.
Do not remember the things that have happened before. Do not think about the things of the past. See, I will do a new thing. It will begin happening now. Will you not know about it? I will even make a road in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
