As the title of this blog post suggests today is about what we do to look after our heart.
From a physical perspective it’s about eating well, and making sure we do physical activity.
Did you know that the recommended amount of exercise for an adult is 180 minutes per week? That doesn’t just mean going for a wander round the shops for half an hour each day, it’s about working your heart to a safe level 180 minutes a week, where you become slightly out of breath, but can still hold a conversation with someone.
If you’re exercising, and you are struggling to breath, slow down, you’re working your heart too hard!
When it comes to eating, you need to eat a balanced diet, and don’t eat much, if any, fast food, or fatty food or sugary sweets or cakes, as they will gradually cause the arteries in your heart to become narrow, raising your likelihood to have a heart attack.
I’m sure none of us deliberately wants to damage our heart or raise our chances of having a heart attack, so take steps now to live a healthier, more active life. The British Heart Foundation has some great info on their website. They have a whole section dedicated to healthy living, so why not check out their website information, and start saving your heart and your life today.
