Is God really enough?

Yesterday I spoke about safety blankets, and how children carry blankets around for safety, and how some use God as their safety blanket, only calling on Him when they are in trouble. So is God really enough?

I’m sure we all hold onto things and people that give us the security or safety we think we need.  So why as Christians do we not solely and completely dependent on God 100% of the time? Why is it only when we’re in trouble that we turn to God? Why don’t we trust God to be more than enough for us all the time? Maybe we need to take away our security items so that we lift our eyes to Him and realise that our security must rest in Him alone.

I challenge you today to think about what your ‘security’ items are that are standing between you and your 100% dependence on God. God calls us to find our rest in Him in Isaiah 41:13

For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you.’

Isaiah 41:13

God is the only place where we can find true peace. We need to realise that everyone, and everything else simply just provides a temporary fix.

I pray today that you will realise that God alone can be our security or safety blanket 100% of time time:

Find rest, O my soul, in God alone;
my hope comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor depend on God;
he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Trust in him at all times, O people;
pour out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge.

Psalm 62:5-8

God is most definitely ‘More Than Just Enough’.
