A seed planted beneath the surface of the soil shows no visible sign of growing to us unless we dig down into the soil to unveil its roots are growing, expanding, and the plant is in fact grown in strength. Similarly, when we feel God has deserted or abandoned us, God is still working in us, and will reveal His plan for us, in His time.
