Have you ever been talking to someone, but realised that although they may be making appropriate noises or nodding their head every little while, they’re not really listening to you – in fact they’re doing something else, such as typing or writing, looking in another direction at someone else, looking their watch regularly etc etc – I’m sure you’ve been there and experienced that yourself. It’s annoying isn’t it – It feels as if what you have to say isn’t important to the person you’re talking to.
Just as some people make it obvious when they’re not really listening to you, God does the complete opposite – he bends down to listen just to us.
I love the Lord because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!
Psalm 116:1-2 (NLT)
God has promised to always listen when I pray. he hears my prayers whenever I say them, no matter where I am at the time. How wonderful it would be if everyone we speak to listened as intently to us as God does, but sadly that’s unlikely to happen. That’s why we must remember that whenever we need someone to speak to, to listen to what we want to say, God is there, and will always listen to us.
