Staying positive

Some things are easy to say, but in reality are definitely not easy to do. Staying positive in life, even when we face problems, can simply be too difficult for us. However, if we can see the positives even during those most difficult times of our life, we will find we can ‘get through’ those difficult times a little bit easier.

Have you noticed that most of my blog posts this week have focused on seeing the positives in life, even when we don’t feel like it? How did you feel when you read those blog posts?

  • Happier than you did before you read them?
  • Made you think back over your day to identify a positive?
  • Reminded you to look for the positives in every scenario?

I’ve found from my own experiences that if we focus on the negatives in our lives, we will tend to see only the negatives in our lives – that in turn will start you on a downward spiral which gets more and more difficult to escape from. Conversely if we try and find the positives in every situation, no matter how bad that situation may be, it will lift our spirits, even if just a little bit, and that in itself has to be a good thing hasn’t it?

Positivity breeds positivity, so thinking positively does improve our mood, and in turn helps us to feel better, and thus more positive about life in general.

I know all this makes it sound so very easy to always be positive, but it isn’t easy! In fact looking for the positives all the time is very difficult, especially when life has thrown you some tough situations – I do know this, as I have been there myself.

The best thing you can do to try to raise your mood, is to look for a positive every day, and in doing so will help you remember there are good things happening in your life, even though it may be hard to see them at times.
