Healthy mind, healthy heart

Is your mind in a good place just now? I find that when I’m feeling a low, and not seeing the positives in life, it affects my spiritual life as well. Everything seems more difficult, and less worthwhile, including my prayer life, and my time with God.

I’m sure we’ve all heard people talk about how having a positive mind, has been proven to help us reduce stress and in turn help us feel better. There are in fact some who say that positive thinking actually helps our heart health as well – There definitely appears to be a connection between our physical and emotional well-being.

There are actually some verses in scripture which back this up

A joyful heart makes a cheerful countenance, but sorrow of the heart crushes the spirit.

Proverbs 15:13

A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

Proverbs 17:22

God knows how we are feeling and why we’re feeling that way. So even when we’re struggling we don’t need to try and hide our feeling from Him, as he already knows how we feel. So put your efforts into praying to God to help you identify the things that are affecting your emotional well-being in a negative way, and ask Him to help you be more positive about life.

God can help us have a healthier heart and mind when we seek His guidance to improve every part of our life. A close relationship with God can help us have a healthier heart and mind about ourselves, and our relationship with God.
