We’re told in the bible to speak kind words to others, so why do we find it so hard to say kind things about ourselves? Instead we find it easier to say kind words to others to raise their spirits, but we find it difficult to find anything kind to tell ourselves.
Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
Proverbs 16:24
Have you ever heard someone say, ‘Positivity breeds positivity’? I have certainly found that when I think more positively I’m more likely to see the best in situations which I may otherwise have only seen the negatives. Conversely if we constantly only see the worst in ourselves, we will gradually stop looking for the positives in ourselves, because we’ve been so focused on only seeing the negatives.
So speak kind and encouraging words, not just to others, but also to yourself, and you will find your thoughts become more focused on positive things.
Anxiety weighs down the heart of a man, but a good word cheers it up.
Proverbs 12:25
