Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.

Probably a passage from scripture you’ve heard many times before. Maybe you’ve not heard The Message translation before, but I specifically chose to use that translation as I personally like how it tells us to let out light shine so others can see us.
Telling us to shine our light, is a great way to convey how far God wants us to spread His message – Consider how much light penetrates even the smallest of spaces, so if we can spread God’s message that far, we can reach far and wide.
Let’s help spread God’s love far and wide, so the world will come to know how much God loves everyone.
