Our protector

Whoever goes to the Lord for safety,
whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty,
can say to him,
“You are my defender and protector.
You are my God; in you I trust.”
He will keep you safe from all hidden dangers
and from all deadly diseases.
He will cover you with his wings;
you will be safe in his care;
his faithfulness will protect and defend you.

Psalm 91:1-4 (Good news translation)

We often hear of God being referred to as our Father. When I was young, I was confused by this, as I often wondered how I could have more than one Father – I had my Dad who was my father, and then there was God who was also called my Father.

Parents always want the best for their children, even if that means sacrificing something of their own so their child has the best. God is a parent, He is Jesus’ Father and our Father, as He sacrificed His Son for all of us, His children.

God’s proved to us when he sacrificed His Son for us, that He will always provide everything we need. Even when life gets the better of us, and we feel we can’t go on, God will protect and defend us, and will hold us close to Him in His arms as He guides us through those tough days.

Hide me now
Under Your wings
Cover me
Within Your mighty hand

When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with you above the storm
Father, You are King over the flood
I will be still and know You are God

Find rest my soul
In Christ alone
Know His power
In quietness and trust

When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with you above the storm
Father, You are King over the flood
I will be still and know You are God

Your Joy Oh lord
will be my strength,
Renouncing fear
We stand in your glorious grace.

When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with you above the storm
Father, You are King over the flood
I will be still and know You are God
